East atlanta real estate

East Atlanta Village is a lot of things. It’s hip, quirky, edgy and fun. It’s trend-setting yet unpretentious. It’s old but still growing. In fact, it’s one of the most recent neighborhoods in Atlanta to undergo gentrification, albeit slowly at its own pace. But maybe that’s just how the neighborhood likes it. During the day EAV is relaxed and the concentration of independent businesses in the Flat Shoals and Glenwood Ave vicinity make it a highly-walkable treat. And at night the neighborhood really comes alive thanks to its bars and go-to music scene featuring local acts, national acts and everything in between. As the excitement of live music fills the night air, it’s not uncommon to see people hop to local eateries into the late hours—indeed, one of East Atlanta’s charms lies in the diversity of people you might run into on any given night. The Washington Post once called the neighborhood “the best kept secret in Atlanta” and Village residents don’t ever need to wonder why.

Exploring east atlanta

East Atlanta’s Spirit

East Atlanta may be all about that collective coolness, but it can also be a family-friendly place. The 12-acre Brownwood Park at the center of the neighborhood is a green space with a recreation center, community garden, pavilion, walking trails and playground. There’s also a sense of community you can feel in the air. Proud residents of East Atlanta Village gather periodically to do neighborhood cleanups or even plant trees and flowers, and raise money for communal neighborhood facilities. The East Atlanta Village Farmers Market, open on Thursday afternoons until dark from April to December, strives for positive community support by promoting healthy eating and lifestyles, with long term sustainability in mind. There are also larger events that continually draw crowds and add to the community spirit, like the East Atlanta Beer Fest, where you can sample over 175 varieties of craft beer in a single day over live music and the annual East Atlanta Strut, a festival that proudly celebrates the neighborhood’s endearing quirks. With new developments popping up here and there around East Atlanta, it’s easy to see that the early days when the neighborhood fell on hard times are now behind it.
