A PARK WITH ITS OWN NEIGHBORHOOD

GRANT PARK atlanta real estate

The neighborhood of Grant Park was built around its namesake 131-acre greenspace, which happens to be not only Atlanta’s oldest, but also one of its largest and most beautiful public parks. You’ll find people from all walks of life enjoying a relaxing stroll or a bike ride under the shade of canopies formed by mature trees spread throughout the neighborhood. Grant Park is a family-friendly community that boasts a fine display of historic residences, from Victorian homes built around the time of the neighborhood’s founding in 1882 to the Craftsman bungalows of the 1920’s and 1930’s. In fact, together with Inman Park, Grant Park retains the largest remaining collection of Victorian architecture in Atlanta. It’s easy to see how the neighborhood’s historic charm isn’t lost on its residents or its many visitors; walking down some of Grant Park’s brick-paved sidewalks, you can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the area’s past while feeling very much alive in the present.

Exploring grant park

something for everyone

Just because Grant Park is a residential neighborhood, that doesn’t mean there’s any shortage of things to do on leisurely afternoons and weekends. Besides all the choices for recreation Grant Park offers, young families often come by to spend an exciting day at Zoo Atlanta, with exhibits spanning 1,500 animals over 220 different species. Immediately north of the zoo lies the Civil War Museum, where you’ll find the famous Atlanta Cylorama (which impressively spans 42 feet x 358 feet), an oil painting masterpiece dramatically depicting the Civil War Battle of Atlanta.

historic and fresh

On Sundays from April to December, you’ll get the opportunity to support friendly vendors at the farmers market who offer up some of the most wholesome, local and fresh produce and products this side of the city. The end of August marks the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival when the community gathers for a 5k run, live music, activities for the kids and of course, plenty of chances to enjoy the shade under those much-loved canopies of trees. You’ll also find at the north end of the neighborhood, right by the beautiful, historic Oakland Cemetery (Atlanta’s first burial ground established in 1850), handfuls of dining options. Trendy eateries and cafes worth trying out as well as some small shops dot northern Cherokee Ave and Boulevard, which both run parallel through opposite sides of the park.
